Bacong Police Shot Dead
The former Officer-in-Charge of the Bacong Police was dead after he was shot the other night by unidentified suspect or suspects at Larena Drive, Barangay Motong, Dumaguete City.
The victim was identified by Dumaguete Police Chief Supt Dionardo Carlos as SPO2 Avito Arbas Arabe, 50 years old, married and presently residing at Barangay Camanjac. SPO2 Arabe was the former OIC Chief of the Bacong Police and is still a member of the Bacong Police Force.
According to Supt Carlos, Arabe attained a gun shot at the back of his head. He also attained wounds and bruises on his face and other parts of his body after his driven motorcycle stumbled on the road. The fire arm used is yet to be identified by the police authorities.
Supt Dionardo Carlos related that they received a call informing of a vehicle accident at Barangay Motong so he sent Traffic Police PO3 Jonathan Vailoces in the area but upon Vailoces’ arrival, the victim was already brought to the Silliman Medical Center. An x-ray was conducted on the head of the victim and the doctors found out that there was a slug inside the victim’s head resulting to his untimely death. Recovered from the crime scene was a caliber 45 pistol near the motorcycle driven by SPO2 Arabe which was still inside its holster. The fire arm is believed to be owned by the victim.
Supt Carlos disclosed that the victim was already on his way home when he was shot at the head and fell from his motorcycle.
The Provincial Police Office under the leadership of Sr/Supt Melvin Ramon Buenafe is conducting a thorough investigation on the motive of the crime and the possible suspects responsible for the death of SPO2 Arabe.
