Picketers to receive gifts for Labor Day
Dumaguete City’s Labor Day celebration tomorrow will be illustrated through giving of gifts to the members of the union who made a picket at the port.
This was revealed by Atty Jose Ogang, head of the Department of Labor and Employment here who was interviewed over DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight.
According to Atty Ogang, it has been agreed already by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council here that instead of a conducting parade or programs, they will instead give gifts to the workers who formerly had a picket at the port. Atty Ogang said that the beneficiaries will be the 118 members of the union. Gifts to be issued include rice, canned goods, coffee, sugar and other goods. Thirty thousand pesos is set aside by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council and another thirty thousand pesos intended for the conduct of such activity. The giving of gifts will be done tomorrow at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
