Mass Grave found
A mass grave was discovered by the 11th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Buclan, Canlaon City here in Negros Oriental.
According to 2Lt. Rodmagel Arizabal, spokesperson of the 11th Infantry Battalion, a former barangay official informed 2Lt. Danilo Mutoc, Platoon Leader designated in Barangay Bucalan of a cave in Sitio Natae in the same barangay where an alleged mass grave abound where the communist rebels buried individuals they kidnapped.
With this information, 2Lt. Arizabal led his men to go the area last week for a retrieval operation. And so, the military recovered human bones which are believed to be owned by 2 to 4 individuals. Also recovered in the place of the skeletal remains are the personal things of the individuals like shoes, short pants and wallets.
According to 2Lt. Arizabal, some residents disclosed that the missing individuals were killed after they refused to cooperate with the underground movement. However, the residents did not disclose the identity of the victims.
The skeletal remains were turned over by 1Lt. Noel Abella, Company Commander of the Alpha Company of the 11th Infantry Battalion to the police of Canlaon for proper action.
