Police who slain alleged criminal’s awarding postponed
The City Council’s supposed to be awarding ceremony for a police officer who was able to slay an alleged criminal who was about to stab a member of the Civilian Volunteer Organization was deferred yesterday.
Earlier, Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices announced that the City Council will grant honor to Police Inspector Virgilio Pineda which was supposedly done yesterday afternoon during the regular session of the city council. However, it was found out that Mayor Perdices himself conversed with Inspector Pineda to explain that the awarding won’t be done until the investigation of the death of Jimson Grapa from Tayasan is finished.
Grapa allegedly tried to stab Willie Tan who was at the time with Inspector Pineda roving around the city to check for the presence of some bad elements. Inspector Pineda allegedly saw Grapa when the latter was about to stab Tan and so he shot Grapa five times using his 9mm pistol.
Grapa was killed in the incident and many questioned the cause of his death. Inspector Pineda is now under investigation.
