Police warns Public employees against SUERTRES
The police authorities’ campaign against illegal gambling was disrupted because of some delinquent personnel at the Hall of Justice since it is undeniable that some personnel in the said area are also betting on the illegal game called “swertres”, revealed Provincial Police Director Supt. Ramon Melvin Beunafe in an interview at DYEM Energy FM Dumaguete Tonight.
According to Buenafe, there was an instance where the police applied for search warrant against a financier and an operator of “swertres” which was supposed to be kept as confidential but the information regarding the planned search leaked and was made known to the suspects.
Buenafe’s declaration was seconded by Police Chief Inspector Julius Muñez, the group director of the 705th Provincial Mobile Group, saying that even before the search warrant was released, the alleged financier has already called him regarding the matter.
In lieu to this, Supt. Buenafe warns not just the personnel at the Hall of Justice but also to all government employees who engage to illegal activities to stop such involvement.
Buenafe warned all police officers in the province not to engage in any illegal gambling activities because those who will be caught doing such will be given due legal actions.
