City Gov’t Denies Neglect Allegations of Mental ward
City Administrator Engr. Dominador Dumalag Jr. denied the allegation that the city government has neglected the Negros Oriental extension Psychiatric Ward.
According to Engr. Dumalag, there are two nurses at the Psychiatric Ward in Talay, 2 cooks along with helpers that the city government is hiring for the said institution.
Also, he added, the city government is providing rice and other food supplies for the patients.
Engr. Dumalag added that the city government does not give cash allowances but “in kind” donations for the mental hospital in Talay.
NOPH Extension Psychiatric Ward Head Dr. Angelo Jesus Vicente Arias earlier revealed that the patients of the psychiatric ward are only receiving a 10-peso budget each for a day.
The Rehabilitation Center has around 50 patients and roughly 300 out patients.
However, the city administrator promised that they will study the possible increase of the city government’s donation to the rehabilitation center especially that it has contributed much to the custody of the mentally-sick individuals in the city.
