Macias realizes threat to DepEd
Governor Emilio Macias carried out his threat given to the Provincial Department of Education in disallowing them to use the sports facilities of the province during their incoming provincial athletic meet.
This was after Gov Macias got furious when the Department of Education denied his recommendation for City Schools Division Superintendent Licerio Napao to take position as the Provincial Schools Division Superintendent.
In a letter dater January 3 for Victoria Galgo, Officer-in-Charge and Assistant Provincial Schools Division Superintendent, Gov Macias prohibited the use of the Praxevilla Tennis Court, the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center and the Lorenzo G. Teves Memorial Aqua Center for the Provincial Athletic Meet this coming February 3-8, 2008.
In the letter, Gov Macias disclosed that the three facilities are scheduled for major repairs and routine requirements during the set date for the provincial meet.
The Governor said it is very necessary to pursue the repairs for the incoming Philippine Olympic Festival with which the province will host this coming July.
In the same letter, Gov Macias challenged Galgo to find all means to look for alternative venues for the different events during the provincial athletic meet.
